Modern web design often includes blocks of content that include a thumbnail image, a title, a summary, and a “read more” link. This is an excellent way to save screen real estate and feature more content on a site’s homepage or a landing page for a section of the website. Typically, there are three separate hyperlinks in the excerpt block that point to the full entry, the thumbnail, the title, and the “read more” link. Leevi Graham pondered this standard approach and sought a better solution… why not make the whole excerpt block a big link? CSS standards don’t allow us to wrap the entire block of code in an anchor tag. That is where the magic of JQuery comes to the rescue. Big Target is yet another gift to the web development community courtesy of Leevi Graham.

I am a daily reader of TechCrunch.com. It is the best resource for tech related news, particularly articles about web start-ups. I’m really looking forward to the their expansion into online video, TechCrunch TV. It seems this video is an example of the kind of content they will be producing.
